[Scribus] OT: how would you do mathematics in scribus?

Hi folks,

I marked this off topic, since it's not really related to scribus
specifically - rather dtp generally.

How would you do mathematically intensive books in a page layout program
such as Scribus?

eg. - lots of inline mathematics
      lots of display mathematics
      lots of technical diagrams
lots of numbered items with multiple levels of numbering - layed
out both horizontally and vertically. Horizontal layout of
numbering might be 2, 3, 4, etc parts across page.

Must be easy to both set quickly and edit both diagrams and text.
Mathematics must be beautiful - think LaTeX, NOT MS equation editor...

Setting mathematics with a popup window for equations is a *real* pain
for inline mathematics if you need set lots of inline mathematics
quickly - so there needs to be a better method than is used by just
about every word processor in existence.

Any thoughts?

Does anyone know how a "big" publishing house might do this sort of
thing?

I realise, that there the specs above are pretty specialised..., but we
have a system for doing this where I work - it's just that the setting
and DTP side of things are totally separate and once you've gone from
setting to DTP - you have to maintain two separate copies in different
programs.

cheers

dc
