I can't imagine there is anything wrong with the Scribus aspects. I'm 
not familiar with pdftops -- what is it doing? Have you used it outside 
the script to see what it does with resolution in the conversion to ps?
My script in the Wiki is taking the PDF itself and loading into an image 
frame.
