[Scribus] Which version for students? And: German tutorial?

Personally, I'm inclined to recommend 1.2.3 or 1.2.4cvs for beginner's 
lessons for two reasons. The first is 1.2x has less features, which 
makes it easier for newbies to learn the different approach of typical 
DTP software. The second is that 1.3x is still a moving target and the 
GUI can change any time. Moreover, some features still don't work as 
expected, and translations may become obsolete very fast.

Holger Reibold has published a short introduction to scribus 1.2, but it 
is out of print. You can still download the PDF here: 

I am working on a small online help (for 1.2.x) in German. But this 
won't become a tutorial, only a quick guide to the basics. As soon as 
it's finished, I will upload the files somewhere, but due to time 
constraints, this won't happen before the end of the year.
