Klaus,

Since the error seems to be occurring on libart_lgpl, wouldn't it be 
safe to assume that you are missing the needed files/programs to satisfy 
that dependency?

You will only need libart_lgpl and libart_lgpl-devel to continue your 
compile of the newer Scribus.  Those should be available from your 
closest Debain mirror.
