BTW, in Debian, the package is called python-dev. I just found that out 
myself :)

Unfortunately, compilation did not go well after that, since even with 1.1.2, 
I get the 

In file included from /usr/include/python2.3/Python.h:69,
                 from cmddialog.h:4,
                 from cmddialog.cpp:2:
/usr/include/python2.3/object.h:343: error: parse error before `;' token

problem (which should have been fixed since Oct 28). I'll try the old 
workaround now...

(Performance improved and the last remaining bugs fixed will make Scribus 
(even more of) a killer app)
