Hi I already sent this email to the dev list some time ago, but looking at the archive, it doesn't seem to have arrived.

I finally found a way to easily (more or less) create business card and label templates via OO.o. It's still a lot of manual work, but I think I could produce a complete set (Avery A4, Avery A4 Asia, Avery Letter Size, Avery Zweckform, Herlitz, Herma A4, Herma A5, Herma endlos, Leitz and Sigel) with, I suppose, more than 200 templates. I could also create the XML file for the template browser. Upside: lots of feature requests less. Downside: ~ 10 MB extra size (uncompressed) for the Scribus package. If we could find a way to install them easily after the basic Scribus install, that could be an alternative.

What do you think?

Wouldn't make templates available on the website for download be a simpler way?

They could be available on the wiki.

We could post a set of instructions on how to make them the best possible way.

This would be up to the users to produce more and more of those templates without interfering with the devels.

Outside the "structure" of the templates concept, that is: in
which directory they must be in order to be loaded easily (I can't
think of anything else, sorry) the template issue, imho, belongs to the
users and not the programmers. And I don't think that unless a very few
that would give a hint there exist lots elsewhere, I would not ship
that extra 10 MB... The reason is simple: we'll never see the end of
this because there are simply no limits to templates.
