Hello franz
i understand you reverted the change about giving colors to master page.
i think that giving colors to master pages enables to recognize them
in a easy and instant way, which is nice when having to change masterpages,
like reordering pages of a long document.
IMO the wrong thing with this feature is/was mainly...
the default violent colors ! i dare say, they hurt the eyes.
So what could be improved is the way to set the color :
First, choose smoother default colors !
maybe plain white / light grey / darker grey...
or maybe these :

second : the color choice is/was accessed in a dialog that is triggered
in a menu that was far away entfernt from the masterpage edit dialog
or from the pages layout window that refers these.
(I cant find it now...)
IMO It would be nicer to access this color input dialog
closer to where the masterpages are visible or used
for example in a little box aligned right
on each masterpage line of the "manage pages" window.
BTW there is a bug (?) there on my machine : when choosing a color,
only the border color of the page is changed,
not the space all around it, which creates a doubt in the user.
But it works fine once that dialog is left and when editing the main document.
last : beside the colors, the way the name is displayed could be improved.
now, scribus try to fit a say 10 letters name
into a little page rectangle where only 3 letters fit :
it cant be read.
It would be better when only initials
or upercase letters of some camelcase masterpage name
would be displayed.
sincerly,
JLuc
