I am updating an old e-book (see below) and have
some interesting results from the ecoverb.sla file
built in July 2009 using 1.3.3.13.
The 1.4.5 version initially can't find a font I
use called PriceDown. When I look for a
substitution PriceDown is listed, but with the
letter S and a green background as an icon
prefixing it on the list of possible
substitutions. So I end up substituting
PriceDown for PriceDown. I note this occurs for
other fonts that are not part of the standard
set provided with Scribus. This process is
functional but a bit wierd. Perhaps it should e
explained somewhere
With Scribus 1.5.0 the same 1.3.3.13
ecoverb.sla file gets seriously distorted, with
diagonal lines radiating from the right
lower corner to the Pricedown letters. The
background (probably a a radial gradient) is
reduced in size to form a large circle. A
similar diagonal lines effect occurs when I
attempt to update another file showing an URL
barcode, again a 1.3.3.13 to 1.5.0 conversion.
Now I did some fancy stuff when creating the
original ecoverb.sla file. A simpler example
might not show these artifacts. But the fact
remains that a 1.3.3.13 sla file does not
reliably translate to a 1.5.0 sla file.
I have posted the original ecoverb.sla file here:

And the original pdf output from 1.3.3.13 here:

and the 1.5.0 output here:

and the PriceDown font here:

I use Slackware Linux 14.1.
FYI.
