[scribus-dev] Some small good news regarding tables GSoC

Good morning all,

I have some small good news.

This first year at my uni we've been having an introductory
programming/computer science course where they've been teaching us
basic OOP (and some simple algorithms) using Java. For my part, the
course has mostly been mundane excercises as I have some programming
background already and the exercises have been more of a chore than a
challenge. But to finish the course off, we're supposed to do a small
(few weeks) project on a subject of our choice.

I just got word yesterday that my teaching assistant will let me do my
project on table layout. It's kind of an awkward choice since the
project is supposed to be a finished program with a GUI, so I wasn't
sure she'd let me. Especially not since we're supposed to do the
project in pairs. But she will let me do the project on my own.

What this means is that I will have some in-school time to experiment
with table layout in Java, and maybe learn a thing or two that I can
bring with me into a possible future GSoC project this summer.

The project is of limited scope, only a few weeks (3-4 i think). And
of course it includes a lot of formal stuff in addition to the actual
coding. But I still consider it good news.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Elvis
